The single Malamente is the standout track for me (and a phenomenal video) but the whole thing is of a very high standard. It is fairly short (just over 30 minutes) and I’d love it to be longer but it is what it is.
There is some ‘controversy’ with the use of autotune but if you’ve heard Los Angeles you’ll know she has no need of it (its used for effect only). There’s a very interesting deconstruction video by Jaime Altozano on YouTube.

I’m not exactly how I stumbled across this album but it is definitely my album of the year (2018).Īpparently it’s based on a Occitan novel from the 13th or 14th century and documents a toxic relationship where the mans jealousy drives him to imprison the woman (there’s nothing new under the sun).
